Hi Everyone,
August was our best month to date – almost ten percent better than February, our previous best month.
The Return on Investment (ROI) for August was 14.4%. By comparison, ROI for the S&P 500 over the same time period was 2.2%.
Year-to-Date (YTD) ROI for Benbo Bets is 42.6%. By comparison, YTD ROI for the S&P 500 is 20.6%.
We think of this project as a “basketball betting index fund” where each bet makes up a tiny component of the overall fund. Thus the comparison to an index fund tracking the S&P 500 is a useful one.
Furthermore, while our record for August was fine at 41 - 29 - 1 (59%), the number we are focused on is ROI.
ROI is the number that determines if this project is worthwhile or not. Amateurs look at the record. Professionals look at ROI.
We currently have 151 subscribers to the Benbo Bets Newsletter of whom seventeen are paid subscribers. Free subscribers receive our newsletter with our picks only for Monday. Paid subscribers receive our newsletter with our picks every day there are games. Our current subscription price is $50 per month.
We have had little engagement this month from our subscribers, free or paid, and I suspect that people are more interested in betting on the NBA, as the NBA receives much more media attention, and that people are not interested in betting on the WNBA.
This is a mistake.
Compared to the NBA, oddsmakers are not as sharp on the pricing of WNBA games so we think there is more inefficiency to exploit in the WNBA market.
This is a “basketball betting index fund.” Every edge matters in maximizing ROI.
As always, you can find all of our numbers on our public Google Sheet. Check the tabs at the bottom to find the particular sheet you want.
Thank you for subscribing.
Sincerely,
Ben
